A Mistake That Can Stop Your Career Growth

“I’ll Study Alongside My Job” — A Mistake That Can Stop Your Career Growth

EnglishRoman Urdu
A common decision after Matric, Intermediate, or GraduationMatric, Inter ya Graduation ke baad aik aam faisla
Many students complete Matric, Intermediate, or Graduation and immediately start looking for a job. They often think, “I will work for now and continue my studies and learn new skills alongside my job.”Bohat se students Matric, Inter ya Graduation ke baad foran job search karna shuru kar dete hain. Un ka khayal hota hai: “Abhi job kar leta hoon, sath sath parhta bhi rahoon ga aur skills bhi seekh loon ga.”
This sounds like a reasonable plan. Earning money is important, and gaining work experience can also be valuable. But there is a hidden danger that many young people do not realize at the beginning.Ye baat sunne mein bilkul theek lagti hai. Paisa kamana zaroori hai aur work experience bhi valuable ho sakta hai. Lekin is plan mein aik aisa khatra chhupa hota hai jo bohat se young log shuru mein samajh nahi pate.
The job can slowly become a loop.Job dheere dheere aik loop ban sakti hai.
At first, you genuinely plan to study after work. Then work becomes tiring. You come home late, need rest, have family responsibilities, and have to wake up early again the next morning.Shuru mein aap waqai job ke baad parhne ka irada rakhte hain. Phir job thaka deti hai. Ghar der se pohanchte hain, rest ki zaroorat hoti hai, family responsibilities hoti hain aur aglay din phir subah jaldi uthna hota hai.
One day becomes one week. One week becomes one month. Eventually, the plan to study remains only a plan.

Aik din aik haftay mein badal jata hai. Aik hafta aik mahine mein. Aur dheere dheere parhai ka plan sirf plan ban kar reh jata hai.

The Job Loop

EnglishRoman Urdu
A simple cycle can look like this:Ye cycle kuch is tarah ban sakti hai:
Job → Salary → Expenses → Routine → Less Time → No New Skills → Same Job → More Responsibilities → Even Less TimeJob → Salary → Kharchay → Routine → Kam Waqt → New Skills Nahi → Wohi Job → Zyada Responsibilities → Aur Bhi Kam Waqt
This does not happen to everyone, but it can happen when a person starts working without a clear plan for education and skill development.Ye har kisi ke sath nahi hota, lekin jab koi shakhs education aur skill development ka clear plan banaye baghair job start karta hai to aisa ho sakta hai.

The Hidden Cost Is Not Always Money

EnglishRoman Urdu
When people think about a low-paying job, they usually think about money. But sometimes the bigger cost is the loss of time and future growth.Jab log low-paying job ke bare mein sochte hain to aam tor par paisay ka sochte hain. Lekin kabhi kabhi sab se bara nuqsan paisay ka nahi, balkay waqt aur future growth ka hota hai.
Imagine someone works for five years but does not complete further education, does not learn a marketable skill, does not build a portfolio, and does not improve communication or technology skills.Sochiye aik shakhs 5 saal job karta hai lekin further education complete nahi karta, koi marketable skill nahi seekhta, portfolio nahi banata aur communication ya technology skills improve nahi karta.
After five years, the person may have five years of experience—but may still have very limited options for career growth.Paanch saal baad us shakhs ke paas 5 saal ka experience to hoga, lekin career growth ke options phir bhi bohat limited ho sakte hain.

A Personal Lesson From My Own Experience

EnglishRoman Urdu
I am sharing this because I have made a similar mistake myself.Main ye baat is liye share kar raha hoon kyun ke mujh se bhi isi tarah ki ghalti hui hai.
At one point, I also thought that I could continue my education and learn new skills alongside my job. The intention was genuine. But gradually, work became a routine and finding enough time and energy for learning became difficult.Aik waqt par mera bhi ye khayal tha ke main job ke sath sath apni education continue kar loon ga aur new skills bhi seekh loon ga. Irada genuine tha. Lekin dheere dheere job routine ban gayi aur learning ke liye enough time aur energy nikalna mushkil hota gaya.
Looking back, I understand an important lesson: if you don't deliberately protect time for learning, your job can consume that time.Ab peeche dekh kar aik important lesson samajh aata hai: agar aap learning ke liye jaan boojh kar waqt fix nahi karte to job woh waqt khatam kar sakti hai.
I am not sharing this to discourage anyone from taking a job. I am sharing it so that young people can avoid making the same mistake.Main ye baat kisi ko job se discourage karne ke liye nahi keh raha. Mera maqsad ye hai ke young log woh ghalti na dohrayen jo mujh se hui.

Does This Mean You Should Never Take a Job?

EnglishRoman Urdu
Absolutely not. A job can provide income, experience, discipline, and valuable professional exposure.Bilkul nahi. Job income, experience, discipline aur valuable professional exposure de sakti hai.
The problem is not the job itself. The problem is allowing the job to become the only thing you do for your future.Masla job nahi hai. Masla ye hai ke job ko apne future ke liye sab kuch bana lena.
A better approach is: Job + Education + Skill Development.Behtar approach ye hai: Job + Education + Skill Development.
If you need to work, work. But at the same time, keep building yourself.Agar aap ko job ki zaroorat hai to job zaroor karein. Lekin sath sath apni personality aur professional skills ko bhi build karte rahen.

Before Taking a Job, Ask Yourself These Questions

EnglishRoman Urdu
1. What will this job teach me?1. Ye job mujhe kya sikhaye gi?
Don't look only at the salary. Think about the experience and skills you can gain.Sirf salary ko na dekhein. Ye bhi dekhein ke aap is job se kya experience aur skills hasil kar sakte hain.
2. Can I continue my education?2. Kya main apni education continue kar sakta hoon?
If you want to study further, decide how you will manage your time before starting the job.Agar aap further study karna chahte hain to job start karne se pehle decide karein ke time manage kaise karenge.
3. Where do I want to be after three years?3. Teen saal baad main kahan hona chahta hoon?
A clear destination can help you make better decisions today.Clear destination aaj ke decisions ko behtar banane mein madad karti hai.
4. Which skill can improve my future opportunities?4. Kaunsi skill meri future opportunities ko behtar bana sakti hai?
Choose a skill that is relevant to your interests and the market.Aisi skill choose karein jo aap ke interest aur market dono ke liye relevant ho.
5. When exactly will I learn?5. Main exactly kab seekhoon ga?
Don't simply say, “I'll study later.” Decide whether you'll study for 30 minutes in the morning, after work, or on weekends.Sirf ye na kahein ke “baad mein parh loon ga.” Decide karein ke 30 minutes subah, job ke baad ya weekend par kab dene hain.

If You Are Already Stuck in the Job Loop

EnglishRoman Urdu
If you are already working and feel that years are passing without meaningful progress, don't panic. You don't necessarily have to quit your job immediately.Agar aap already job kar rahe hain aur mehsoos hota hai ke saal guzarte ja rahe hain lekin meaningful progress nahi ho rahi to panic na karein. Zaroori nahi ke foran job quit kar dein.
Start with one small change.Aik choti si tabdeeli se shuru karein.

Step 6: After 6–12 months, explore better opportunities.Step 6: 6–12 months baad better opportunities explore karein.

Don't Try to Learn Everything

EnglishRoman Urdu
Another common mistake is trying to learn ten different skills at the same time.Aik aur common ghalti ye hai ke log aik hi waqt mein 10 different skills seekhne ki koshish karte hain.
Choose one skill and become reasonably good at it before moving to another.Aik skill choose karein aur doosri taraf jane se pehle us mein achi practical understanding hasil karein.
For example, you might spend several months learning WordPress, SEO, graphic design, programming, and digital marketing all at once. This can leave you confused and exhausted.Misal ke tor par agar aap aik sath WordPress, SEO, graphic design, programming aur digital marketing seekhne lagen to aap confused aur exhausted ho sakte hain.
One skill. One plan. Consistent practice.Aik skill. Aik plan. Consistent practice.

What Should Students Do After Matric?

EnglishRoman Urdu

Think about continuing your education while developing basic practical skills.Agar aap ne Matric complete ki hai to sirf koi bhi available job hasil karne ke bare mein na sochein. Education continue karne ke sath basic practical skills develop karne par bhi focus karein.
Computer literacy, English communication, typing, digital tools, and basic technology skills can become useful foundations.Computer literacy, English communication, typing, digital tools aur basic technology skills useful foundation ban sakti hain.
If circumstances require you to work, try to choose work that doesn't completely close the door to further education.Agar circumstances ki wajah se job karna zaroori hai to koshish karein ke aisi job choose karein jo further education ka darwaza bilkul band na kare.

What Should Students Do After Intermediate?

EnglishRoman Urdu
After Intermediate, think carefully about your next educational step. A degree, diploma, technical program, or professional certification can change your future options.Inter ke baad apne next educational step ke bare mein carefully sochain. Degree, diploma, technical program ya professional certification future opportunities ko change kar sakti hai.
At the same time, start developing one practical skill that can eventually support your career.Sath hi aik practical skill develop karna shuru karein jo future mein aap ke career ko support kar sake.

What Should Graduates Do?

EnglishRoman Urdu
Graduation should not necessarily be the end of learning. It can be the beginning of specialization.Graduation ko learning ka end nahi samajhna chahiye. Ye specialization ki beginning ho sakti hai.
Instead of simply looking for any job, think about the kind of professional you want to become.Sirf koi bhi job dhoondhne ke bajaye ye sochein ke aap kis type ke professional banna chahte hain.
You can combine a job with certifications, practical projects, professional networking, freelancing, or another relevant skill.Aap job ke sath certifications, practical projects, professional networking, freelancing ya kisi relevant skill ko combine kar sakte hain.

The Better Formula

EnglishRoman Urdu
A healthier long-term formula can be:Long-term ke liye aik behtar formula ye ho sakta hai:
Education → Skill → Experience → Income → GrowthEducation → Skill → Experience → Income → Growth
Compare that with:Is ko is cycle ke sath compare karein:
Job → Salary → Expenses → Routine → No New Skills → Same PositionJob → Salary → Kharchay → Routine → New Skills Nahi → Wohi Position
The second cycle isn't inevitable, but without planning, it can happen.Doosri cycle zaroori nahi ke har kisi ke sath ho, lekin planning na ho to aisa ho sakta hai.

Your First Job Should Not Become Your Final Destination

EnglishRoman Urdu
Your first job can be an important step in your life. It can teach you responsibility, communication, discipline, teamwork, and practical experience.Aap ki first job aap ki life ka important step ho sakti hai. Ye aap ko responsibility, communication, discipline, teamwork aur practical experience sikha sakti hai.
But don't allow your first job to define your entire future.Lekin apni first job ko apna poora future define na karne dein.
Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep building skills.Learning jari rakhein. Improvement jari rakhein. Skills build karte rahen.
A job can give you income, but continuous learning gives you options.Job aap ko income de sakti hai, lekin continuous learning aap ko options deti hai.

Final Thoughts

EnglishRoman Urdu
If you are a student or a young person thinking about your first job, don't make a decision based only on today's salary. Think about where that decision can take you after five or ten years.Agar aap student hain ya young person hain aur first job ke bare mein soch rahe hain to sirf aaj ki salary ko dekh kar decision na karein. Ye bhi sochein ke ye decision 5 ya 10 saal baad aap ko kahan le ja sakta hai.
If you need a job, take one. There is nothing wrong with honest work.Agar aap ko job ki zaroorat hai to job karein. Halal aur honest work mein koi burai nahi.
Just don't stop growing.Bas apni growth ko mat rokein.
Keep your education alive. Learn a useful skill. Improve your communication. Build experience. Create opportunities for yourself.Apni education ko zinda rakhein. Useful skill seekhein. Communication improve karein. Experience build karein. Apne liye opportunities create karein.
Don't say “I'll study later” without a plan. Later can become years.“Baad mein parh loon ga” bina plan ke na kahein. Ye “baad mein” kabhi kabhi saalon mein badal jata hai.
Your first job should be a step forward—not a place where your growth stops.Aap ki first job aagay barhne ka aik step honi chahiye, aisi jagah nahi jahan aap ki growth ruk jaye.
